It's sound like it was a complete cluster-f. Here you come into a hall as a chess champion, expect things to be well organized and to sit and play a concentrated game, and then there are all sorts of technical problems and the whole thing obviously isn't ready for prime time. Then to make things worse they start to blame you for the problems?? I would have handled it much less graciously I think, and so would Kasparov if he had been in her shoes. If the event was a technical mess, that's somewhat forgivable since it's a totally new area, but rude behavior is never called for. In the future these contigencies have to be addressed beforehand, i.e. do you switch to phones if the connection goes haywire, and if so how to adjust clocks at that point, etc. It's a learning experience, but it sounds as if the KC folks acted in such a way as to make it less appealing for other GMs to do this sort of thing. That's extremely stupid on their part.
