You are being clear to me. I have seen no evidence that a one PV search will end
up with better results than a multiple PV search (lack of solid data so far). In
fact, the concept of fast searchers vs. slow searchers would seem to indicate
that extra ply are not as important as people claim (Kasparov is an extremely
slow searcher). So, I am working in my program to prove that this is not the
case.

However, there are a whole boatload of one PV chess engines out there using
similar techniques in order to achieve their results. They obviously cannot be
totally incorrect, but then again, if nobody challenges that paradigm, how will
we ever know if they are totally correct?
