Whomever told you Othello and Backgammon were solved? The best Othello and Backgammon programs are better than any human player, the backgammon programs may still lose occasional game in a match. I seem to remember that a team of two of the best human players managed to draw a game against the best Othello program. The first non win for the program in quite a few years.
