Chess Academy 2000 is a wonderful program, containing a powerful database,
tutorials, a chess playing program. Unfortunately, I haven't had enough time to
find out all the features of Chess Academy as it is practically an enormous
library of chess, but from what I've seen I can safely say that it may well
fight for the top place among the chess packages. Its analyser is Chess Academy
5.0, a chess playing program that is a small miracle by itself -- it is
incredibly strong, and uses three books (!): an opening book, a middlegame book
(lots of typical midgame positions built in) and an endgame book (Ken Thompson's
EGTBs) (In my short matches it beat Zchess 8-0, and drew Nimzo 98 4-4! The
search features are unsurpassed -- i.e. it can dynamically trace routes of
different pieces, among other things.

I am hoping to get back to Chess Academy very soon; right after the April exam
term :-)
