Yes, that seems to be the problem with the MMX instructions:
It's hard to find a really good use for them.   :-)

In my (unfinished) program I have only found one routine where it seems worth
the trouble of setting up the MMX registers. (Un)fortunately this routine is
very rarely used at all, so the over all improvement for the program would be
very hard to notice.
