(1) the commercial programmers won't take part in technical discussions to any great extent. So they are going to be there but 'silent'. (2) the amateur programmers discuss their tricks and ideas all the time, here, on ICC, via mailing lists, etc. That won't be missed. I mainly attended tournaments because _I_ enjoyed watching the games. I sat across the table from Lang and we didn't say 2 words back in the 1980's... He didn't add anything to my experience there, I didn't add anything to his. But bert/I always ejoyed the _games_... >bruce
