> >They changed the rules during that 4 moves game? No Stephan, they did *not* change the rules during that 4 moves game. I am very happy to explain it to you, so that you understand what *I* mean with "they changed the rules." It's a matter of language, pull up your chair while I brief you on the details. Feel free to ask any explanation, if you're uncertain about details, as we are very helpful around here, and always ready to clarify. A tournament has rules. A championship has rules. One of the rules for the Dutch championship - made by the KNSB, not by someone else - was that you couldn't be compelled to play a computer program. That means: no punishment for not playing, as you can be compelled physically ever to play a game of chess, obviously. Then Fritz came around with an offer to play - which I liked *very* much - and the KNSB promptly changed the rules. You could be compelled to play the computer, if not, you would be forfeited. Put up or shut up. *That* is changing the rules while you play. The result is a lousy string of events, and all kinds of protests, some principal, some lousy as well. I think it's a very strange reaction you get from some people here; that only to the mere conclusion the chess association is to blame and *not* the protesting players, *nor* ChessBase or Fritz. But somehow people here doesn't seem to be particular interested in the real course of actions, as the magic word "chess program" has fallen. Weird. Maybe we should spend less time behind our computers. Of course, these are afterthoughts. You must understand, Stephan, that this is not about changing the rules. I don't wanto to confuse you ny further. Jeroen ;-}
