The human *long range* tactical ability has been neglected, although it is far better than the one computers have (if they have it at all). Sometimes this long range tactical ability overlaps with strategy, but sometimes it is just the gut feeling that carries a GM or any strong human player a long way. Computers are much better than humans at short range tactics (two up to four move combinations) and that is all... and why they are so good at blitz chess. Thus I believe that the results so far have told us more about strategical weaknesses of programs than about anything else. *** Djordje
