Even though I haven't played chess on the internet for some time, I have my own personal favourite too. I've tried FICS a few times, but it doesn't really appeal to me. There's also too many computer players for my liking, at least the last time I tried. If you want a game against whomever you choose without a lot of hassle, I would recommend http://play.yahoo.com/. You don't need to download and install software. Everything is organized through a functional applet. You have the added bonus of playing other games like Backgammon, Checkers, Go or card games when you're tired of winning or losing playing chess. There's too many (good) free sites to warrant paying for a simple game of chess IMHO. Best wishes... Mogens
