Ouch. My chess program has lots of branches that are very difficult to predict. I suspect this is true of many other chess programs too. Don't be too surprised if some chess programs run faster on Pentium 3 or Athlon at 1 GHz than they do on Pentium 4 at 1.5 GHz. Not sure it is actually out now either. They just officially announced it now. Last i heard, it will be available September or October.
