P4 is not out yet. On the other hand, AMD has just this month started shipping the Athlon "Thunderbird", which is available at or close to 1GHz and has a 256K on-chip cache. This looks pretty attractive, although the high-Mhz versions are costly now. I assume they will crank up the clock speed and lower the prices later this year.
