Hi Chris,

Just wondering, does this mean that you are using the system you are
recommending on your own computer chess board? If so, how's it doing?

I'm inclined to disagree with your suggestion, but I'm not sure yet. I've
noticed that a lot of names appear in certain off-topic threads that do not
contribute to definitely on-topic threads, and vice-versa, and the number of
people contributing to strictly on-topic issues are probably a small minority of
the whole membership. I think some moderation is necessary, or else there will
be a gradual increase in off-topic posts and the whole board will gradually
evolve into a general chat board.

Excuse the F-word, but for example whenever Fischer's name comes up there seems
to be no shortage of people wanting to contribute to it. Such threads have had
to be stopped by the moderators several times since I've started coming here,
less than a year ago. Without moderation what would have happened? And knowing
how potentially inflammatory this topic can be, it would have led to mayhem.
This is probably why they opened up the chess board next door.

Cheers,

Mike.
