The word 'best' can be explained in a thousand different things, most people don't say a word about what they do in their program. Famous are Ed and Frans' sentences: "Didn't v/d Herik write about that in 1984?" A book which only shows how to implement alfabeta, a primitive qsearch and primitive hashtables (not even sure about that last). Therefore Bob is high at the list list. Followed by John Stanback and Mark Uniacke. Frans sure is also very high at the list for proving nullmove is that important. world obviously wants to give credit for a program based upon number of world titles, but that's not always true. Mark Uniacke has proven some points i think. Also the speculative play of The King is really proving some points. >-Tom
