Thanks for your reaction, Robert! I believe I understand it a little better now.
I would like to correct my correction again but I'm afraid that would end up
becoming a recursive function. I had probably better first check my sources.

Robert, I hope it is alright to ask you something very different? I saw that
Andres Valverde's ECTool communicates with Crafty via a file ect2craf.pgn to
pass the game notation to Crafty. The file resides in the assigned Crafty
directory. But could this same file also be used do you think to pass a single
EPD-string from ECTool to Crafty to analyze it? If it is in a pgn-form like
this:

[Event "Win at Chess"]
[White "WAC.001"]
[Black "Key: Qg6"]
[Result "*"]
[FEN "2rr3k/pp3pp1/1nnqbN1p/3pN3/2pP4/2P3Q1/PPB4P/R4RK1 w - - 0 1"]

1.e4 *

(This is from a file with the "Win at Chess" positions in pgn-format)
I understand if you don't want to go into details but would Andres have to
change much, in principle?

Thanks in advance,
Eelco
