Hello, >I couldn't resist the temptation to look how Faile 1.1.4 would do against other >"weaker" engines. So I ran a very small 5,0 blitz tournament with Exchess >(3.51), Docter (3.0), Faile, LG2000, Comet (B22) and odd man out Nimzo '99, very >bad at blitz time controls. Geez .. you're calling LG2000, Comet and Nimzo '99 week??? :P >The results surpirsed me, Exchess winning. You can look at the tournament at my >website (http://zip.to/jeroen and go to the games section on the page, where >you'll see the link. It's a hughe page, so take your time. 30 games PGN >downloadable, Nimzo opening book, all 16Mb Hash, comp= PII@450MHz-320Mb RAM, >Interface= Fritz 6a) Speaking of the results you put up in a later post - all typical whining about not sufficient games to conclude anything aside, I don't think it's quite accurate to say Nimzo '99 is rated only at 2000. While I admit to being a bit hesitant sometimes in thinking many computer programs are being over rated by computer chess fans, I think 2000 is a gross underestimate. I'd also like to say that I recognize Faile was out of its league in that competition, and it shouldn't have been in it, and can't really give any meaningful results. It's sort of like playing Kasparov vs. some 2300 guy .. the games don't really have any significance in terms of determining ratings (I think statistically games lose all significance past a 300 point rating difference). Just out of curiosity, did you use the Fritz native version of Faile? (Faile for one reason or another seems to play very erraticly using the Winboard adapter!) >Even before the release of Lara Croft's "Tomb Raider V (Chronicles)" this fall > >I know how Lara escaped her tomb prison. (I sound like Sam Sloan) > >Go to my homepage at http://zip.to/jeroen, go to the miscellanious section and >click on "how lara escaped". It *is* a screenshot from TR4, but if you see the >way Lara performs this incredible act facing a *closed* door, you'll understand >she hasn't got any problems with massive walls. > >Enjoy, don't tell everybody. Keep the secret. Hmm, I took a peek at this out of curiosity and was slightly dissapointed to find only a single picture which was so dark you couldn't see anything.. was it supposed to be animated or something? Regards, Adrien.
