>1) Make one or two backups of your database before you let CB7 kill doubles.

I always make backups a lot of times. I had once a database with 2.2 mil games
and backuped everytime before I did some huge improvements. But Because my
database is about 800Mb and after 20 backups my HD was full I had to remove some
old ones.

After a while I noticed that about of 10.000 games where ruined. This errors
where not found by the LATEST chessbase integrity check. I noticed also that
with my most oldest database the errors where still there. So I got all backups
for nothing :-(.

I made a new database and copied the good parts of the database. After a while
working I had corruptions again.... I noticed that a lot of corruptions occur
when CB7 crashes. When it crashes it's highly possible you have errors in your
database which the integrity check can't find. Another reason you can get
corruptions is if ChessBase is processing things (screens) and you move your
selection bar. Then it thinks it has to use different data for it's processing.
For example this occurs when renaming playernames.

CB7 can also make corruptions with importing PGN. And even the Megabase 99 have
some strange (data-incorrect) move in them.

If you take a good look to the playerbase you also see strange things... So you
can find 1800 elo players in it. Every ChessBase related product you can find
dataerrors if you look very carefully at it.

I hope so... A very good Check Integrity would fix some problems, which checks
as much as it can reporting even errors in MegaBase. It would also be nice if
CB8 will be a version which doesn't mess with priorities of software. (I think
ChessBase sometimes asks windows to make it's process the highest priority
possible, so system freezings occurs), or they have bad written code with
calling process messages... isn't it ChessBase?

The software look is the less important for me. It's functionality and
correctness (integrity), robustness of the product is what counts for me. The
software look is something which is nice if you see the product for the first
time but which begin to irritate if other things are still wrong...

Maybe I shall sending A LOT of bugs to ChessBase about CB8 when I began to use
it and keep track on my a homepage of what I have found and what they have
solved. So everybody can see well they fix bugs.

I have sent ChessBase a lot of bugs and of the about 20 bugs I sent them they
have solved about 4 :-(. For example startup Chessbase 7. Go to option. Select
P-Q4 for move display. And start analyzing with Fritz from the opening
position...... tell me what you see :-). I used the latest ChessBase for this.

It would also be great if ChessBase compiles it's product again with MSVC 7.0
when it comes out and put on their webesite the new and about 20% faster
version...

See above.
