There will definitely be a new Mega and Big 2001, with many additional games. The advantage is always that a number of experts, most of them strong GMs, have spent 12 months checking, correcting and editing the database, not just the new games but also the old ones, so that every year the quality improves noticably. I think Big 2001 will be out at the end of the year and it is worthwhile to wait two or three months for it. On the other hand the update from Big 2000 to 2001 is about $20, so if you are going to spend more than an hour or so trying to set up a good reference database it is advisable to get Big 2000 immediately.
