This name has been used by a french programmer, Yann Takvorian, who
wrote a book named "Echecs et C" (Chess and C). It describes basic chess
implementation in a very academic and inefficient way (he uses malloc to
create move lists!). A compagnion floppy disk can be bought apart of the
book. It contains the author's chess program, Alex II, a very slow and
weak program.
