That's completely irrelevant to me in every sense of the word. The psychological tension and intense combat exhibited in the games played between Kasparov and Kramnik so far is impossible to emulate in a computer vs. human encounter IMHO. If you've watched the braingames coverage, you know why both players have to be human to generate any longterm interest. It's a gladiator game of facial expressions and body language. Interesting even to chess patzer like myself. So the current or future strength of computer chess programs doesn't change anything for me at all. I choose to ignore that factor altogether. The matchup would be boring and devoid of several aspects inherent to a purely human contest. Actually I hope that computer chess programs becomes invincible very soon, because then they can be ignored with good conscience. Would anyone really want to see SMK and a monitor instead of Kramnik opposite Kasparov? I wouldn't. Mogens.
