I have made numerous attempts to solve some of the problems contained in
this suite.

I tried some of the easier ones a year ago, on a P6/200, and had the
following results:

Position 11 found in 14 minutes, had a draw score an hour later, but
after 3.5 hours had dropped back to -1.3.

I ran position 5 for four days and didn't find it.

Position 1 found in 2 hours, after 5 hours had a score of -0.44 but a
pretty good looking line.

Position 10 found in about 11 hours, with a positive score and a good
line.

Position 4 not found in a day or so.

Position 2 found in 24 hours with a huge positive score.

Position 7 not found in a day or so.

Position 8 not found in a half hour (I don't know why I didn't run it
longer).

The last few weeks I've tried some more, with a PII/300 and this year's
version of my program.

Position 7 found with a draw score and a very unconvincing line in 4
hours 40 minutes.

Position 4 found in 3 hours 40 minutes with a score of +0.63 and a good
line.

I ran position 5 for several days, and didn't get e5. Mine prefers to
play Nf3, eventually with a score of +2, but e5 is almost certainly the
right move, judging from DT's result.
