I have to correct this. Looking a bit longer with Rebel it turns out
that
this last variation is a forced draw: 33 ... Ne5 34 Bd2!! Rxd2 35 Rxh7+
Kg5 36 Qg7+ Kf5 37 Rh5+ Ke4 38 Qh7+ Kd4 39 Qa7+ with a perpetual check.

So 27 e5!? is playable, but leads to a draw. So 27 a4 might be White's
best option.
