I just obtain a copy of CM8000 and found a peculiar bug which is most annoying! It is related to the T/C's and is very noticable when set on sec. per move. This unerves me a bit as it may be related to the timing in CM8000 and may effect other T/C's. I really am not sure what the cause is but it could be related to all of those personalities, but only shows up signifcantly when set on sec. per move. I tried 10sec. 60sec. 180sec. and every time it moved instantly, and I was out of " Book "! When I took a look at the Kid's room it had it set to 5 sec. a move by default, with the Josh Waitzskin Personality Age 12, rated at 2100. It also played instantly when out of " Book ". This is why I think the bug may reside within the varying personalities, when set to sec. per move. Has anyone noticed this glitch? I contacted tech support for Chessmaster but it's run by Mattel and the Learning Company and they were not able to assist or answer my questions. If others have come across this problem I would like to know. All comments/ideas, welcomed. The programm is running on a Pentium III 500 with 128MB of SDRAM under Win. 98. I did a custom install, so all files are running of my HD. I also noticed that I Do Not have to use the Disc 1 CD to run the programm even though at chessmaster.com it says the CD must be in at all times. My guess is that must apply to " Minimal " and " Typical" installations. But back to the main issue, has someone noticed this " Bug " when trying to play CM8000 when the time settings are at sec. per move? Thanks for any input on this issue. Or any other " Major Glitches " found on CM8000.
