As you say, Rd8 appears equally good. Nd8 looks better for a while.
Under Crafty Nd8 fails low at ply 13 and the score drops to -1.27.

I agree here that Qb4 is ok. At least as far as I have been able to
analyze it. As this one seems to have three acceptable solutions,
maybe it is not a good test.
