In general the move Rd7 relieves the slight bind that white now enjoys. To me it looks like a poor choice among other alternatives and would probably cause some confusion to future solvers of this modified ECM suite. What line are you getting that you suspect it "might" be the best move? My vote is because of the bug it does not look like a winning combination so trash this one. But, chess being what it is ... I may it my words.
