Sure Gandalf is a good program. Sure it needs large hardware to be competitive.

Take Nimzo 8, or Rebel Tiger, or Rebel 3.0. These are programs that do not
require huge hardware just to be in the game.

As much as I like Gandalf, I do not expect it to do well in the next IPCCC or
WMCCC.

In fact, I happen to think Gandalf will not be in the top 5 when it comes down
to it.
