After a bad result, the programmer either says he gives up chess programming, or that he is going to rewrite his program from scratch. And after a while the guy has not given up chess programming, and instead of rewritting he just keeps on improving his good program. I'm not in Frederic shoes, but from the outside it looks like he does not have to rewrite everything. His program is already so good that my guess is that the best thing to do is just to optimize a little bit, clean the program a little bit, then keep on improving it. I've been there too. Almost all chess programmers did I think. :) Christophe
