Part of the problem is that Win9x has to load a copy of IE if you have _any_ sort of "active" content in folders, desktop, etc. Then it has to load another copy when you run IE to browse the web. It also has a copy of explorer running which is the Windows shell. Windows Explorer (the file manager) seems to be also a copy of this. So instead of loading the thing once (or maybe twice), explorer/iexplore can be loaded several times on a Win9x system without being realized. WinNT/2k doesn't appear to have this problem. >That makes a lot of reasons to buy 98lite as soon as possible in order to 98Lite is very nice, actually. I would support that recommendation. But I wouldn't recommend running Win9x in the first place. :) >remove them from your PC, and to use Netscape 4.7x. As much as I would like to agree with you, and as much as I dislike some of Microsoft's stuff, I must say that in my experience, IE 5.x is a whole lot better than Netscape 4.7x. It's faster, more stable, and seems to produce better output on most webpages. (This is on Windows 2000, which in itself is infinitely better than Win9x - Maybe on Win9x Netscape really is better...) If you know what you're doing, you're in no more danger of getting a Virus by using IE than you are by using Netscape or anything else, IMO.
