There really is not much sense in being disappointed with CM8000 IMHO .

The Aufsess tournament as a few similar tournaments is special in several ways .

It is run by users like you and me who try to "optimize" the performance of
their computer-engine-pair by doing whatever they think might be of use .

Judging from reports of past events it's usual that things like the following
happen:

1.) People play with overclocked PCs that sometimes just blow up or ( even worse
) don't work in a reliable way anymore .

2.) The users adapt the time control to their own liking during the games
several times.

3.) The users prepare special opening books which sometimes produce the
strangest results ; I remember a very interesting report by Mr Kästner about a
similar tournament ; so it's not unusual to see a program in a position it
doesn't understand .

4.) Another thing is : the operator sometimes just loses the fun after he sees
no chance to win the event and doesn't pay attention in the following rounds
anymore ( that has also happened in the past ) which changes the outcome for
others .

So : although the results are in no way random I don't think they should be
taken _too_ seriously either .

I have seen very good results by CM8000 so far ; I think it is a clear
improvement over CM6000 ( time will tell ) . I really hope SSDF will test it (
as autoplaying is possible ) .

Regards.
