Junior and Fritz are not more stupid than Shredder or Hiarcs or Gandalf. The number of nodes per second is totally irrelevant. I see from my analysis of my correspondence games that there are cases when Deep Fritz has a better evaluation function than the "positional" programs. I also remember games from Enrique's tournament when Deep Fritz won games against Gandalf not because of tactics but because of a good positional sacrifice of Deep Fritz that Gandalf did not understand.
