We have an idea that might create even more interest and involvement in the CCC. We would very much like the input of the entire membership before possible implementation…. There are many issues on CCC that generate a good deal of emotion (i.e. the current "SSDF and the programmers" is one good example and there are many others) as well as a constant flow of posts, counter-posts, and counter, counter-posts, but as with any newsgroup or message board, the great silent majority is (by definition) never heard from. We would like to know what these people are thinking, and yet we respect their decision to stay out of the fray publicly. But, if the entire membership could vote (confidentially) on these issues, and the ongoing results could be published on the CCC, we would know where the majority stood. We have considered a few methods of achieving this goal: a) VOTES BY EMAIL. Each member would receive an email with an issue and a question asking for a "yes", "no", or "abstain" vote. Those who did not want be involved in this process at all could ask to be removed from the voting list, and they would not receive further voting emails. -OR- b) VOTES ON-LINE. When a member signed on to the CCC board, he would first be given an issue and an opportunity to vote (or not vote) OR there could be a link on the CCC board where people could place their votes and see results. A system would be in place to allow only one vote per person, per issue no matter which method of voting was used. Ideas, comments, and suggestions are welcome (unless you would like to remain part of the silent majority on this issue as well:-} ) Regards, Steve
