I understand and agree to some extent ; which one is the best is a matter of taste for sure . I like ChessPartner for it ICS interface and its WinBoard adapter , I like Shredder for its useability , I think the Chessbase one is the prettiest . Btw ; to my personal taste the best of them all is the one of the soon to be released Bringer 1.8 which probably is most similar to a simplified Shredder ; but as I also see a few very positive aspects in WinBoard it might not be to your taste at all . > >> >>I am not especially in favour of a situation where there is only one interface >>left so I am not too happy with a Chessbase/Tiger but this is only an opinion . > >Agreed. > >>Statements like the above keep getting repeated several times by several users >>until probably they get accepted as the simple truth . > >I don't believe members here are that simple. Yes , I didn't phrase that correctly . It's more like : especially new members seeking guidance about questions like : "Which chessprogram should I get ? " might get confused . Their number is not big enough to be of any commercial importance for the companies involved but they definitely exist . So I simply put a different opinion as I disagree . > >> >>This is like Mr Irazoquoi claiming that Chessbase programs have been leading >>everybody's list for 3 years now forgetting about CM6000, Hiarcs 7 and Tiger 12. >> >>Statement 1 : Best prices ? Well : best engines is probably about strength then ; I mentioned a few others of similar or maybe even higher strength ( at time released at least ) . > >>Statement 2: Is this about the GUI ? Well , the GUI is fine . CM8000 and >>ChessPartner or Shredder are fine , too . Every interface contains a few things >>the others don't have . I thought your 3 "block phrases" sounded a little too biased ; I didn't mean to discuss them but instead at late hour I simply wanted to make a little joke . As I took a religious metaphor it was forseeable that I might be misunderstood which happened :-) . Good night . pete
