I do not know if other programs do it or not, but Tiger uses a lot of endgame
knowledge in order to avoid useless TB accesses. Because each TB access is very
expensive in term of CPU time.

So those who believe that using TBs can help to remove endgame knowledge from
the program are definitely and deeply wrong. Efficient use of the TBs implies
that your program knows a lot about endgames.

Because of this, implementing TBs in a program is not a 2 days work. It can take
several months to get it just right.
