It doesn't affect hash tables other than what their maximum size is. If
you do not specify a size, the default values are used.

As far as the speed your prototype PowerBook G3 goes, I would call it
equally fast with a final one. John Scalo at Apple got 109,368 on his
PBG3, using version 14.10 of Crafty with 12m hash and 1.2m pawn hash. If
you use those hash sizes too you should be able to top that since (at
least on the Mac) 14.12 should perform slightly faster than 14.10.
