No, he is absolutely right. Of course its true for every male discussion group with pecking orders and status questions. But here its somewhat extreme, maybe because chess programmers are not working in professional development teams and lack polishing by human interactions and the interdependencies of a normal company. A colleague of mine calls CCC the "baboon rock" and AFAIK its mechanisms are a source of constant entertainment for some who know to take it with a grain of salt. What I like about CCC is that status of a member seems determined by the content provided. Christophe Théron has a very high status and he deserves it because he is not afraid to write about his thoughts and his work. Same goes for Bruce Moreland and Robert Hyatt.
