The test has some easy tactics ( evens it up ) - and then some positional ones most programs usually will "solve" with their opening book . Currently I suspect this test maybe shows something , namely maybe the ability to play openings without opening book ( only a vague guess ) - I am looking forward to see the Chessmaster 8000 results . It's only for fun and I think it _is_ fun :-) >There is no way that Crafty is only elo points stronger than Gaviota. >Interestingly, Gaviota solved 4 of the most difficult as well as >Rebel, GT and Comet. It could not solve easier ones. Well , the difficult ones were not chosen in a very scientific way - I simply took those that Bringer did not solve ( quite unfair ) . But as the competition already has 10 programs now it probably should be kept like that now . It would have been better to simply take all the positional ones and declare the tactical ones easy ( what they are ). pete > >Miguel >
