su to root,

and run

hdparm -i /dev/hda    (or /dev/hdb or ... what HD the EGTB's are on)

then run

hdparm -u /dev/hda

and

hdparm -d /dev/hda

and post the output here. If possible also post the disk-related parts
of dmesg (or just all of it :).

Do you have similar problems when the computer is doing heavy diskaccess
in other situations? Jerky mouse pointer etc..?

What kernel are you using?
