That would be a very likely scenario. But like in all other cases, it depends on
how the contract is put together and the individual strategy of SMK.

Not necesarily. Like everything else related to this market it depends on the
pricing and value (strength). The most obvious problem would be lack of specific
marketing otherwise performed by Millennium. OTOH it might be possible to reduce
the price with fewer people involved. But we'll know the future of UCI when SMK
starts communicating with the public again.

Well, there are WinBoard versions of the engines as well. But what about Gandalf
and Deep Shredder you might say. Deep Shredder is a free download and doesn't
constitute a part of the price. Gandalf does, but it exists in a WinBoard
version. Not to mention the UCI to WinBoard adapter. The value for money is
slightly in favour of those with either Shredder and CA, but not by much IMHO.

The next one will be called Engine edition due to the name confusion. The
objective should be (IMO) to ensure WinBoard and UCI version of each engine.
Thereby keeping the value of the package obvious to the consumer. Not that there
have been any reason to question the value of the editions so far, but the
transparency can always be better.

Mogens.
