Very interesting coincidence! My program also solve this position by selective
search (you speak for sure about selective, brute force could take days). It
solve it at 9 moves when maximum responses number is put to 4. This "4" you
indicate probably as "depth".

This coincide as well. Excellent result!

Obviosly Chessmaster reach its solution by selective search. It not say in
certain way shortest solution for both positions.
