Fritz 7 (single CPU program) will be released shortly, for half the price of the SMP programs. It's expected to be stronger than Deep Fritz (6) on single CPU, of course. The situation was a bit unusual, because ChessBase did not only include SMP capability (compared to Fritz 6) into Deep Fritz, but other important improvements too already. I think this actually isn't much of an issue... users of single CPU machines don't need to buy SMP versions, multi cpu-users may want to take them into consideration for high-end performance.
