Why not wait a couple months and go through the upgrade effort just >once? Yes, it will expire. I just don't want to wait until October to have a stable PC. I simply cannot run many hungry apps at once right now, even though I have 3/4 gig of RAM and many extra gigs of fast hard drive space. I'm assuming that the "upgrade" from this pre-release to the actual release of WinXP will be essentially nothing, since it's really not an upgrade at all. So I only do the difficult upgrade one time and it only costs me $10 more than waiting until October. The real alternative is Win2000, but from what I've seen WinXP really is better in most every way, even stability. The only drawback I see to XP is the nasty licensing thing -- my fiancee and I will need to buy 4 separate copies between us for our 2 PCs apiece in one house, even though at most 2 of those 4 will be running at any given time.
