While I can't really recommend a good C/C++ book for beginners (but there's plenty of info about that on the net) I think that it's important that beginners don't read books which contain provable wrong information for the sake of simplicity. (or it will take 10 years afterwards to explain to them why void main(void) is not ANSI-C, even if Mr Schildt says so) Sargon
