Contd. from heading....with Gambit Tiger 2, Or Deep Fritz, or Fr. 7.0. Or a top program? Is there still any position in the world leading to a win, or even just an advantage (recognizable to program!) that not one of the top programs will be able to solve within 36 hours on an Athlon c, at 1.4 GHz. due to tactical inadequacies, or blind spots? If that is fulfilled, then there's not too much work left to solve chess, after refining position assesment a bit more etc. Only, possibly, a few very long term positional decisions, which maybe no human will ever get around to unleashing against it in a game. Of course, when speeded up with hardware etc. Or even correspondence, now. S.Taylor
