On an average application, XP (Pro) will run around 36% faster than Win2k.

Some will of course be faster and/or slower than others.

XP is *really* a fast OS.  I saw an Intel 1.0Ghz boot in less than 20 seconds at
the XP release in Houston.  That is; hit the power button, 20 seconds later you
are ready to run whatever app you want.  Pretty impressive.  And this was one of
those loaded down "brand name" comptuers.  Like 8 items in systray.
