Subject: Schroders' Junk E-mail

Author: SEAN EVANS

Date: 08:47:41 05/30/98

The problem with have having moderators with a commercial interest in
Chess software is they may exploit CCC to make profits.

I didn't give you people my Email address so one (1) person could spam
me and exploit his position at CCC to make profits.

Case in point; I received Junk E-mail from the German programmer Ed
Schroder today trying to get me to buy his crappy DOS Rebel 9 program.
I think this proves the selfish and self centered nature of Schroder and
his departure as moderator a very good thing.

This would certainly involve the CCC moderator candidate from Israeli,
programmer Amir Ban who is this author of Junior. Potentially a person
with a business interest such as this may take an impartial view to some
postings or once again get ahold of the members list and spam us with
sales pitches.

The nominations are fixed, I tell you, I nominated MARK YOUNG and yet
his name is not on the list. WHY!!!

The only person on the list currently PURE enough to do this job is
Thorsten Czub. God bless him for volunteering to clean up this polluted
Newgroup. The last moderators screwed it up big time!!!

Wishing you all the best,

The Apostle Sean

HERE IS THE EMAIL SENT TO ME FROM SCHRODER:

Dear Chess Friend,

With this email we like to inform you on several topics you might be
interested in, especially we hope you will like our news that REBEL will
play an 8 game match against World no.2 chess player Vishy Anand!

VISHY ANAND versus REBEL, some snips from our home page
-------------------------------------------------------
>From July 21 till July 23,1998 REBEL in Italy on the island Ischia will
play 8
games against World's SECOND BEST chess player VISHY ANAND.

The most exciting question is if a normal commercial available chess
program
running on a normal PC is able to compete with the human chess TOP. Deep
Blue (especially in the last match against Garry Kasparov) has proven it
is
able to compete.

Deep Blue from IBM last year with super fast and special designed
hardware
hitting 200,000,000 nodes per second (NPS) beat Garry Kasparov with
3½-2½.
The main question will be if Rebel on a normal available PC hitting
200,000
NPS will be able to set another milestone in chess.

Internet LIFE coverage of the event on the Rebel Home Page (and other
sites)
including Rebel's analysis! This means that while watching the
Rebel-Anand
games life you also will see Rebel's thoughts on your screen like the
main
variation, score, ply-depth etc.

The full info you can find on the Rebel Home Page. Because of the event
we
offer you a free download of 2700 games (including statistics) which
represents the astonishing career of Vishy Anand.

REBEL has moved to a better server
----------------------------------
Because of the growing popularity of the Rebel Home Page (currently
200,000
visitors a year!) we have moved to a better server at:
http://www.rebel.nl

Rebel 9.0 news
--------------
We want to decrease our stock of the Rebel 9.0 upgrade CD-Roms. For
those
who have no Rebel 9.0 yet this is a special opportunity because this
CD-rom
is exactly the same as a full version because together with the CD-rom
you'll also get the Rebel 8.0 program.

In other words Rebel 9.0 and Rebel 8.0 all together for only $79 or DM
99.
Our summer sales offer of REBEL 9 + 8 is called REBEL 98! However summer
sales means: out of stock definitely too late...
Details at: http://www.rebel.nl/rebel98.htm

New free software
-----------------
Besides the free Rebel Decade 2.0 two new nice pieces of chess software
are
released. A new version of the already famous (and free) EPD2DIAG
program
now comes with the Rebel Decade 2.0 chess engine. The same applies for
the
(in our opinion) best chess software in the world for email chess,
ECTOOL.
Also for ECTOOL (shareware) a Rebel Decade chess engine is available
(for
free) to analyse all your games automatically. For more info the direct
URL
is: http://www.rebel.nl/edindex.htm#ENGINES

COMPUTER CHESS LEAGUE (or CCL)
------------------------------
A new initiative to make computer chess even more attractive. On CCL the
world's best chess programs compete against each other.
The direct URL is: http://www.rebel.nl/edindex.htm#CCL

The Rebel DIARY
---------------
Here you can read about the latest developments on Rebel especially on
the
successor of Rebel9. It's a summary of the new and upcoming features
programmed sofar. Bottom line, there will be two new versions of Rebel,
a
Rebel 10.0 for Dos and a Rebel for Win95/NT.
The direct URL is: http://www.rebel.nl/edindex.htm#REBEL10

This will end the information of this email. If you have disliked this
email
or if you don't like to receive email from us in the future announcing
new
products, just let us know and we will remove your name from our mailing
list.

Best regards,

- Ed Schroder -
