I really don't see the big deal.
The FIDE counter won't display the persons IP.
I just checked my own, it simply displays where you came from,
Monitor res and OS. And there are thousands such as these counters all over the
internet. There are more intrusive counters that do give IP's.

And even then the program you mention won't stop the counter from recording you.
Also AFAIK any email you send the IP can be seen within, so is this counter
really such a bad thing.
