I like the UCI interface which I know from Shredder 5. People who do not yet
know it, should consider taking a look at it. The feature list is indeed nearly
endless, even without new things of Shredder 6 I do not know yet.

Interesting amateur engines are available as UCI engines too (Yace, SOS, AnMon -
I'm sure more will follow).
