I just remembered that what I calculated was not the mean number of collisions, but the the probability of having 1 collision. If the probability of having 2 collisions or 3 collisions is close that of having 1, it will all add up pretty quickly and may infact result in many collisions. So I ran a little test by comparing the 32 and 64 keys, I didn't get any collisions. One of us must be doing something wrong ;) -S.
