Thankyou for the supplied comments. I was under the impression that the WCCC was predominately a tournament for mainframes with select invitations to micros. I had no idea that the tournament was such an open event with micros supplying a large percentage of participants. The whole point of the discussion was based on the different classes of "World Champion" that exist, and claims made by commercial software for being "World Champion" for a particular category. If micros can now compete on an equal level with mainframes, then a Rebel X, or a Fritz X, or which ever program for a micro wins the next WCCC, the resulting commercial program can rightly lay claim to the title of "World Computer Chess Champion". This title is more prestigious than the "World Microcomputer Chess Champion" or "World Professional Microcomputer Chess Champion". It also allows greater commercial exploitation of the title. Regards
