How are you calculating the 50% speed disadvantage?  1.78GHz AMD for HIARCS puts
it at less than a 21% disadvantage (+/- MHz difference between INTEL and AMD)
even against Crafty's 700 Quad Xeon.

Nevertheless, this is what books are for.  :)
