Good point.  Maybe if the association had dues or entry fees or something, it
could sponsor the flights for the top amateurs (and let them handle hotel
accomodations).  Or top amateur + top professional both get airplane tickets.

On the other hand, I would hate to see it end up like the ICCA, which does not
seem to provide much benefit for the dollars invested.

It might be nice to have national (and maybe even state/province championships
too, if chess programming were to become absurdly popular).

So (for instance) Uruchess would probably be the first champion of Uruguay, but
other countries would have a lot more competition.
